National League Three expands to fourteen teams with the return to action of Bramley (as the Buffaloes) and Carlisle (Centurions) and the addition of Birmingham Bulldogs and Essex Eels. 2003 Grand Finalists Teeside Steelers withdrew from the League to be replaced by Gateshead Storm.
