Trevor Foster Book of Condolence Closes

14 May 2005 --

There was an overwhelming response from the people of Bradford and the Rugby League community to the online Book of Condolence for the late Trevor Foster MBE. The Virtual Rugby League Hall of Fame website at www.rlhalloffame.org.uk received over six hundred messages to the online Book and decided to close it to new entries this week.

Steve Newcombe, who runs the Virtual Hall of Fame site, is touched but not surprised by the response.

“The variety of people who have taken the time to post messages about Trevor is truly moving.” said Newcombe. “There are messages from people who knew him well, people who watched him from the Odsal terraces, and children who knew of him and the great contribution he made to Rugby League and the city of Bradford. You’ll see names, some of them famous, from around the world and across generations of the Bradford community.”

“I think everyone who wished to has had a chance to pay their respects through the online Book and I wouldn’t want to see it spoiled by spoof messages and spam. Plans are well underway to produce a hard copy of the messages for posterity; we hope to announce details of this soon. Meanwhile the online tributes to Trevor will remain on the website for as long as the website exists”
